Rep. Javi Benitez Brings AI Bill Work to Cebu Business Summit
June 27, 2026

Rep. Javier Miguel Benitez of the Third District of Negros Occidental, who heads the Technical Working Group on the proposed Artificial Intelligence Development and Regulation Act, brought his regulatory work to the private sector as a panelist at LAMBO 2026: Cebu's AI Business Summit, June 27. As TWG head under the House Committee on Information and Communications Technology, Rep. Benitez sat on the summit's "AI in Sector Applications" panel from a vantage point uncommon among legislators, a former local chief executive and a candidate in the Master of AI and Data Analytics program at the Asian Institute of Management, the summit's academic partner. His assigned segment focused on the limits of government data use: what local governments can do with data that most have not yet attempted, and where the line falls between data that serves a community and data that overreaches. "Lambo means growth, and real growth is always about people. Together, we are making sure AI serves people, without overreaching into their lives," the Representative said. LAMBO 2026 was organized by JCI Cebu Inc. with the AIM Master of AI and Data Analytics cohort. Net proceeds fund Youth ACCESS, JCI Cebu's AI literacy program for marginalized communities across the Visayas. *
