Resolutions on Artificial Intelligence & Alex Eala’s Historic Sports Milestone

Representative Javier Miguel Benitez of the Third District of Negros Occidental has filed two notable House Resolutions that reflect both the forward-looking and nation-honoring facets of his legislative vision: addressing the country’s approach to artificial intelligence and recognizing a historic achievement in Philippine sports. On July 13, Cong. Javi filed Resolution No. 37, commending Filipina tennis sensation Alexandra “Alex” Maniego Eala for her historic performance on the international stage. Eala recently became the first Filipina to reach the finals of a Women's Tennis Association (WTA) 250 Tournament, a major milestone for Philippine tennis. In addition, he urged the House of Representatives to create a Special Committee on Artificial Intelligence (AI) to ensure the responsible development, governance, and integration of AI technologies in the country through a House Resolution on July 14. The proposed Special Committee on AI will be tasked to formulate a national strategy, evaluate international models, recommend policies and laws, promote digital inclusion, and foster collaboration. Cong. Javi is a known advocate for digital transformation and youth empowerment. Thus, the resolution exemplifies a bold and forward-thinking action to safeguard the country’s digital future. *
