Negros Occidental Third District Representative Javier Miguel Benitez joined the Terra Madre Asia & Pacific 2025 Public Talks and Conferences on “Food, Farming, and the Climate Crisis: Building Resilience Together” at the Provincial Capitol Lagoon, November 21. Rep. Benitez was joined by Roberto Espinosa of MASIPAG and Imanul Huda of Slow Food Honey Presidia Indonesia, with Pacita Juan of Slow Food Manila serving as moderator. In the forum, the Representative emphasized the need to shift political incentives, strengthen local governance, and ground decisions in science, data, and community knowledge to build climate-resilient food systems. He called for long-term, systems-based thinking that prioritizes soil health, ecosystem protection, and transparent climate data. He reaffirmed his legislative commitment to policies that support agroecology, empower farmers, and equip LGUs with science-based tools for climate adaptation. The Public Talks and Conferences is part of Terra Madre Asia and Pacific, the regional Slow Food gathering that spotlights biodiversity, Indigenous knowledge, and sustainable food systems rooted in the principles of good, clean, and fair food. *
