Mayor Javi Fulfills Dream of Bringing BIDA Program to Victorias

The City Government of Victorias, led by BIDA Ambassador Mayor Javier Miguel Benitez, hosted the Town Hall Meeting of the Department of the Interior and Local Government Secretary Atty. Benjamin Abalos Jr., March 14. “As the City Mayor and an Ambassador of BIDA or Buhay Ingatan Droga Ayawan campaign of our National Government, it has been my dream to bring to Victorias a BIDA event with no less than Secretary Benhur Abalos as the guest of honor,” Mayor Javi shared in his message. The City Mayor said he was able to achieve this dream through the ‘BIDAlagan Advocacy Run Against Illegal Drugs’ which was held at the Sidlak Victorias Global City. He also emphasized his gratitude to the DILG and the Provincial Government for choosing Victorias City to host the remarkable event. During the town hall meeting of DILG Secretary Abalos, he discussed the different programs of the DILG aligned to the national Sustainable Development Goals. He gave valuable insights to the local chief executives in their continued pursuit of public service excellence. Secretary Abalos also promised to give all LGUs in the country fire trucks and fire stations. Following the town hall meeting, all local chief executives, National Government Agency heads and representatives, members of the DILG family, and barangay officials signed the Pledge of Commitment and Support to the DILG Programs such as the Barangay Kalinisan Day (BARKADA) Program, Seal of Good Local Governance, and Halina’t Magtanim ng Prutas at Gulay sa Barangay (HAPAG) Project. “May this pledge strengthen the collaboration and unity among government agencies for the greater good of our community and country,” Mayor Javi said. The City Mayor emphasized that the pledge is a symbol of the LGU’s important alliance with the DILG and a testament to their mutual collaboration and partnership toward meaningful programs that are vital to the promotion of inclusive, quality, and dynamic governance. DILG Assistant Secretary Elizabeth Lopez-De Leon, DILG Region VI Director Juan Jovian Ingeniero, Acting Governor Jeffrey Ferrer, BJMP Regional Director JCSupt. Simeon Dolojo Jr. and Vice Mayor Junb Bantug were among the distinguished guests at the town hall meeting and Signing of the Pledge of Commitment and Support to DILG Programs.
