Farm-to-Market Roads Anchor Victorias City’s 2026 Development Push
February 11, 2026

Farm-to-market roads will headline Victorias City’s 2026 development agenda as Negros Occidental Third District Representative Javier Miguel Benitez revealed a national government-funded roadmap centered on agricultural growth, infrastructure expansion, and strengthened social services. During the Victorias City Development Council meeting held last week, Rep. Benitez presented the said roadmap, which outlines concreting projects through the Department of Agriculture linking key haciendas and barangays to market centers. The initiative aims to reduce transport costs and post-harvest losses while boosting farm productivity and local trade. Complementing the agriculture push are new multi-purpose facilities, including a two-storey daycare and office complex in Barangay I, a public market in Barangay IV, a fishport and souvenir center in Barangay VI-A, additional daycare centers, a covered court, a container-van library, and a new water supply system for Barangay XX. Education and health projects under the Department of Public Works and Highways and the Department of Health include classroom rehabilitation, conservation of heritage school buildings, construction of school health facilities, and upgraded equipment for local health centers. Rep. Benitez also underscored continued social assistance through AKAP, AICS, and MAIFIPP, expanding access to specialized institutions such as the Philippine Heart Center and the National Kidney and Transplant Institute. Additional initiatives include district-wide mobile medical screenings and the distribution of “Metro 3rd” emergency Go Bags to enhance disaster preparedness. The 2026 roadmap positions agriculture as the city’s economic engine while reinforcing essential services, aligning national resources with local priorities to accelerate inclusive growth.*
